About Us

This is a boutique photography club led by a creative identity specialist. This is not a regular photography program. My aim is to unblanket your creative vision and help you find your own path to being an artist. If you have taken photography classes before, but feel there is still some emptiness within, this is a place to start awakening your authentic vision.

Founded by Cat Orloff Irkaeva, Creative Producer, Photo Editor (Getty Images, MSNBC, NBA, AP, HBO) in 2024, our boutique photography studio aims to bring hope and inspiration to artists who feel internally fragmented or creatively stalled.

I offer photography mentorship, creative identity advice and run a contemporary art & photography school.

Based in New York City.

Online and on Staten Island.

Occasional meetups on Staten Island and in Manhattan.

I am a guide.

I create artistic journeys.

Why should you come? Joining our online community will help you refresh your outlook on life. If you are an experienced photographer, but feel stuck in your artistic pursuit, or in need of a new creative identity, I will be able to point you out in the right direction. If you are a beginner, I will help you learn a couple of tricks to become a better photographer. Online schooling is a best choice for those who prefer to learn at the convenience of their home, but also in groups - and use their skills in projects for which you will receive group feedback. The self-study options are best for those who have a tight schedule that does not allow them to attend live sessions at a certain time.

Who is this for?

While individual coaching of advanced portfolio groups are best suited for experienced artists or advanced amateur photographers, practice classes are vest for those who are just beginning their creative journey.

But what if I am a total beginner?

Beginners, worry not! You will gain access to efficient training and learn about other photographers in the field. The assignments are multi-level - everyone strives. My goal is to help you get to know your inner artist, mix life experiences with your art, and help you share your vision with others. I believe in visual language as the most natural way of communicating between humans.

I am thrilled to meet you!

It was just a chance meeting and introduction to Cat Orloff at JCC lunchtime - an empty seat at a welcoming table.  That meeting convinced me to take a chance on

her  class.  Thus my eyes were opened to so much more in taking photographs.

It was always my purpose to record events, trips and memories important to me

and my family.  Now I appreciate to a fuller extent the ways a photograph can tell

a story.  Cat’s class has broadened my perspective in photography and my view

of the wider world.

When I read about this course in the catalogue, I was mesmerized. I found this course fascinating and unbelievable. Too good to be true. Beyond words and out of this world. Cat, my instructor, was exciting. Never a dull moment in her class, for she is very positive, passionate, and unique. I never heard one negative remark out of her mouth. She considers all of us photographers, each with our own style and form of expression, attitude, and effort. She says she loves this class. She told me that I am a photojournalist, not only in photo taking but in my written expression style. Now I take photographs of everything wherever I happen to be, even online. When I see something that appeals to me, I have to take its picture and make stories out of it.

Click, click, click!!!! I have had her as an instructor for three years. I have thousands of photographs, so many that I had to store them in large cartons labelled and put in categories and subjects. Now I cannot get enough of photography and writing essays about it. I am so beyond words. Thank you, Cat, for you and this class of yours. I am over the moon.”

It's interesting how she gets you unstuck creatively. Sometimes she speaks about something unrelated, but at the end of the class, it all starts to make sense. She brings in sculpture, architecture, psychology studies. It all adds up to overall knowledge of the arts, and photography, specificaly.

-Max

Please know that I carry your teachings with me and have gained a much deeper appreciation for the perspectives you share.
